CLA helps to improve body composition as part of a healthy lifestyle. Recent research indicates that it may improve body composition by a variety of mechanisms: 1) reduce energy intake; 2) increase energy expenditure; 3) prevent fat cell production; 4) reduce body fat mass.1 In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, supplementation with 3.4 g daily of CLA for six months significantly improved body composition in overweight adults.2,3 CLA supplementation decreased body fat mass by 3.4% and increased lean body mass, which was associated with a reduced waist to hip ratio.2
